If I'm correct, that tuner is out of a CT-100

I have been told this tuner is the same as a CT-100 but this particular one was NOS and came with it's original box and mounting accessories.

The paperwork that came with it lists several models of B&W sets that it fits but no mention of the CT-100, it may pre-date that set by a year or so.

Is there a number stamped on the tuner beginning with the letters "KRK"?

Wadeaminit! Isn't that a remote starter for a 52 Studebaker? It looks like the large front gear that engages the flywheel is worn smooth.

Yes, on the tuner itself is rubber stamped "KRK 12"
On the paper label attached to the tuner it says "Kit KRK25"

I'm pretty sure that the KRK-12 is the CT-100 tuner. The kit may be a retrofit for some VHF only sets to receive UHF, as that tuner should have interchangeable tunable UHF strips.

Gotta love the "CLUNK, CLUNK" of that big monster!

The KRK-12 number sounds right for 1954, when the CT100 was manufactured.

I have a CT-100 schematic that lists the tuner as a "KRK-12C". It uses one 6BQ7 RF, one 6U8, one 6AF4 Osc, and a germanium diode mixer for all channels including VHF. The 6U8 is used as a 2-stage IF amp after the diode mixer, and there are two IF transformers on the tuner chassis. If memory serves I believe this tuner was also used in a deluxe black & white RCA model of the same period. It is the only turret type tuner I have seen used in an RCA set. All others used the wafer switch style tuners.

I bought this thing off eBay because I thought it looked like a CT-100 channel selector.
It differs slightly in style from the ones I've seen.
I like the way the center section turns seperately from the outer ring, 12 VHF channels and I think 5 UHF. I think there are some UHF number strips in the kit.

It might be interesting to see if it could be wired into a chassis and see how it works.

Are the UHF strips included? There are three different types; "G" can be tuned to channels 14-52, "H" channels 53-68, and "J" channels 69-83. If you use this tuner you might be able to trade UHF strips with a CT-100 owner to get the right number of the types you need for the channels in your area. There are four trimmers on each UHF strip - one for the oscillator, two for the RF, and one for the mixer, so each strip will have to be aligned to the exact channel. Strips A-D are for VHF channels.
