Regal International

That's all it says on the front of this cathedral radio. The little old guy who sold it swore it would work once warm, but I t s obviously going to take a little more than that. I can hear a little noise from the speaker, but not tuning to anything.

I fairly handy around a tube amp or preamp and have built several, but this is my first foray into radio, short of recapping a Mcintosh MR 67. The first thing I will need is a schematic hopfully with test points/voltages.

Here's a few pics of unit out of cabinet, ANY help getting sound out of this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Russellc

Do you have a picture of the front of the cabinet?

A full recap is probably in order here...and most (if not all) of those "dogbone" resistors have most likely drifted off in value. And, from the looks of things, you may be faced with replacing a lot of wiring as well. Not a common set, and it's probably worth restoring.

I can get one. My friend took that with him to begin restoration.
Thanks for the tips.

Anybody care to guess as to whether the coil in pic 2 is any good? What is it for? Are the card board box looking things in pic 3 caps? What is typically used to replace them?

Thanks again,
Russellc

Also, if anyone could suggest some voltage points to measure?

Thanks again,
Russellc
