Postwar Zenith book ?
Anyone heard anything about a book being published on 1946-65 Zenith tube radios ? I've had two people tell me one was in The works by the folks who published the 1920' & 30's Zenith reference books.
A little surprised it's taken this long with so many books out on less then interesting radios. The Zenith sets are among the nicest postwar radios made, particularly the high fidelity AM/FM models. |

Was it the guys who wrote the Transoceanic book ? Seems like I vaguely recall something about this, too...

Yep, Cones and Bryant. And if I remember correctly, it's going to be called "Zenith Radio: The Mature Years."
Now WHEN it'll be out, is anyone's guess....

Sound goods, I look forward to it. I hope it's comprhensive. Wonder if it will cover the decline in the 1970's when domestic production went of a cliff !
I recently found a 1955 Zenith company report.....they seemed unstoppable. The photos of massive production plants. The World class research and developement divisions showed how Zenith was a leader in electrical engineering, lots of guys in lab coats ! Maybe the decline will have to be the 4th Zenith book in the series. But then again, maybe the end is too painful to document in a book. |
