Stromberg-Carlson 600-H
Found this today, & had to have it, even with it's flaws. I don't know anything about it yet, but while I was ogling it better at home, I grabbed a few pics to share.
 On the end of the power cord is a genuine Clear-Tone Appliance Noise Reducer, good for AC or DC.

Looks like this is a superheterodyne, from 1942, & uses 6 tubes. It's probably not "rare" or valuable, but plenty cool enough for me.

I only have two vintage radios. That's a nice SC. One of my preferred vintage companies for sure.

Very cool!
 I've got a Stromberg-Carlson around here too. Nice find, I couldn't have resisted that beauty either.

Well, I opened her up this morning, & found dust o'plenty, but also found out it uses 4 of those cool-looking metal tubes. I think I like glass better, lol, but it's also cool to see the metal ones, other than pics online. Check out that speaker magnet & choke.
I realized I was trying to get too much detail yesterday, so got the sides & top today, so you can see the weird geometry of the cabinet.

On top of the speaker is not a choke, but the audio output transformer. Notice that S/C made it fully enclosed in metal. They wouldn't have had to. Most outputs were open frame with the windings showing. Speaker is a 5" or possibly 6", better than average. S/C always claimed they made a better product. Their motto was: "There is nothing finer than a Stromberg-Carlson."
Under the chassis are a few original paper caps and a couple of black plastic jobbies that somebody put in there as replacements maybe 50 years ago. They are all bad or soon will go bad and need to be replaced with new ones, as well as do the electrolytic caps contained in the black cardboard can on top of the chassis. Leave it there for looks but disconnect it and replace with modern small units under the chassis mounted on a terminal strip. I will bet once you do this the radio will play. I will also bet the tubes are all OK or maybe just one of them burned out since it's a series string set. Good find! Better than average table set. Reece
