Hey guys!
I know it's been forever, but I was going thru some links, came across this thread. I see I never put up the photos of the original knobs for the F_M 8A These are from the console model, 8-AC2 Same chassis 8A. There is also a table model of this set, really nice. I have included the two hang tags that were with my model. The smaller one was tied around the AC cord, the other is meant to be hung on one of the front knobs. Maybe you can use these scans to make a repro tag for your set. (If you still have it )Take care, Gary. ![]() ![]() ![]()

Yep, I still have it. It's not going anywhere. Still using it daily for talk radio.
Running it regularly has made the radio sound better. I've replaced 3 more caps since we last posted on this topic. 2 are in the tone control circuitry, and one that is connected to the tuning eye. This one made no difference, but I thought it was beginning to swell somewhat. Its easy to check the chassis. Pull off the knobs, and slide the chassis back and out. I have the hold-down bolts, but am not planning to move this anytime soon. Thanks for the knob styles. Now I know what to look for... |

Nice looking set. Here's a link to a pic of a 9A which looks very similar. It's not really close enough to see the knobs very well, but Radio Attic can probably hook you up with the owner for a closer pic.
[Edit: Oops, I missed the posting above with the HUGE knob pics. Never mind! Re: caps, I just replace em all, saves having it break down over and over and having to pull out the chassis. Most of them cost pennies anyway, it's only the electrolytics that are a couple bucks, and there's usually only 3-5 of those. But whatever floats your boat!]

Trust me, I'm not having to work on the radio all the time. It is working perfectly. I just received a NOS tuning eye for this radio!
