Before I got into fixing radios, I failed to scoop up the contents of an old desk in a carriage house - every drawer was filled with old caps & resistors (and other small parts) from the 20's through the 40's. Back then, my uncle's grandfather & father ran a radio shop out of there before moving to a storefront around 1950 or so. I did save all the old meters I found, and some radio & appliance trade magazines from 1945-47. I had no idea anyone would want those old caps & resistors. The house was sold five years ago, and I have no idea if the new owner cleaned out the carriage house.

Here's a color roundie that had the misfortune of being installed in the wrong area code.

Photo NOT mine.

Man, that sucks. I'd still bring 'er home and put in a CRT, the rest don't look bad, neither does the Zenith.
I'm thinking of grabbing the other two sets. I'm also looking into who currently owns the house, checking at the county records this week. I'm gonna see if there's a way to save the whole damn place. If not, oh well I tried.

WHOAA! Awesome man! Wouldn't it be cool if you ended up buying the place?

Do you think the house is at all salvagable? I know there's water damage of biblical porportions, but it would still be cool to revive the place.

I could save it, I'm a good carpenter. It would take a while but it could be done. Fix the roof and you have all the time in the world to worry about the rest. after further inspection I found that most of the studs and rafters are good, that old cylotex wallboard and plaster is falling all over but I've dealt with that before. Just suit up and start rippin' it down. Out there, you can gut the place and bury all that crap out back. I doubt I'll be able to do anything though, it probably is owned by family that is letting it rot. I wonder if anyone else has inquired about it? That's why I am, you never know.

Anyone know what make this set is? Looks like a later round-screen color receiver. I agree, except for the destroyed CRT, the rest of the set looks good. This was a pretty cool looking hotel it was installed in.

That would be cool if you got it, restoring an old house is something I've always wanted to do.

Me too! I own an old house in town but it's not the same as fixing up something like this. Just imagine the possibilities this place has.....
I also grew up on a place like this, my mom showed horses and later I helped run my girlfriend's dad's Black Angus farm. The BEST meat I've ever had to this day!
