Hey Hotrod,
If you live in Columbus, Ohio, you may find a vintage cabinet over at the Early Television Foundation Museum in Hilliard. Give Steve McVoy a call or e-mail. He doesn't encourage destroying or modifying vintage sets, but he just may have an old toss away cabinet in the back and perhaps give you some tips.
