yeah there is one 01A in it, the speaker was in the house priced at 150$ and the radio was out in the back with paint cans piled around it. I love it, I am going to put it right in front of my huge art deco mirror. I hope I can bring the bakelite back

That's a real beauty. Good thing they at least kept the speaker indoors. I'm curious to know how much restoration needs to be done under the chassis. I hope you will post some pictures when you get it restored.

It doesn't look so bad inside as the condition of the outside would indicate. You're lucky to have all the original knobs. A little turtle wax on the finish might do the trick. Sandy G has some experience restoring bakelite.

yeah but 2 of the tuning knobs are in bad shape, looks like someone didn't know how to remove them and attempted to pry them off with a screw driver. I just lost half of the head of one screw...
 Reading one article about kennedy radio's the face is formica not bakelite, his trade mark.

Well heres on of the cabinet with the face plate. I didn't want to strip the cabinet and do a complete restore, so I wiped it down really well, sprayed it with toner, shellec, did some 220 sanding in between to get a smooth finish. I am not sure if it looks good or not. I need to work on the panel under the face plate, looks like the grain filler dried out along with the finish, I might be able to smooth out the shellec to get a smoother look, I will then give it a coat of bee's wax...it does look 100% better then before but just not sure :?

here you guys go, finally finish up the 13th screw. I can't for the life of me snap a good photo tonight, brought all the lamps in and everything, it would still come out blurry and the flash bounces of the shinny parts and screws the photo up. I will take a better one tomorrow in the light but here it is. It still isn't electronically restored and all the tubes aren't 01's there just for looks, you know normal people don't know hehe

Me, too...You have a talent for this sort of thing, obviously. Now, the next step is to get it playing as good as it looks..This bad boy, I'd wager, is 1925 or earlier.

Great job on the resto! And thanks for the peek inside. I haven't seen a radio quite like this one before. Do you know the brand, model, and production year?
