You could crudely simulate that French 819 line B&W system by setting your blu-ray player or such to 1080i and only connecting the luma cable, leaving Cr Cb unconnected.

Thanks for posting the link. Very interesting to read that even today's HDTV resolution capabilities were available in the World War II era!

Agreed, interesting read. I'm also curious about that image. I have a 630TS with stand, but it has a shelf on the bottom - not a cross-brace.
