This Philco is on my want list...
But it's Bakelite and therefore out of reach darn it. I have the Wood version of this set.
Oh well, just read, it's cracked anyhow. ![]() http://cgi.ebay.com/Philco-vintage-b...item27acf4ca9c |

That is really neat looking!
![]() I have a 7" (7JP4 crt) Philco set that is the same style...I have never seen the 10" model, wonder if it is the same size cabinet (15"W x 14"H x 17"D-to the end of the CRT cup), or perhaps slightly deeper? or a total scale up? The 10" model is scaled up. The chassis for the 10 and 12 inch sets takes up about the same surface space as the cabinet of your 7"er.

I have one on the bench right now. The cabinet only has a small gauge on one side, and is otherwise OK. The problem with it and a 12 inch with identical chassis, except for some slight differences in the horiz. deflection circuits, is the gosh darn tuner. It will start to receive well, but starts to draw excessive current after a few minutes. May have something to do with the AGC section? any suggestions, guys?
