Old Zenith table top

I went to a man's house to measure a pc. of glass and while I was there he asked me if I was still into old radio's and I said sure. So he asked me if I wanted a radio that used to belong to his mother. he said he would have to call his brother to see if it was alright to give the radio away. He said yes and I got 1936 zenith 5-s-29

Cool. I like that style too. I believe it's the same model as leadlike's "radio from hell"

Kewl...Great score ! Those are generically known as "Tombstones". If you get it re-capped, there's no reason it won't give you good service for ANOTHER 75 years...

Yep, with a quickie recap and a nice big piece of wire for an antenna, it will be a great performer. For the antenna, I strung some stranded 20 gauge wire around the inside of the cabinet four times, stapling it down in the corners. That really made a difference. Enjoy this radio. It is a great set!
