I'm in awe at the amount and depth of knowledge available about color TV by some of the individuals in this forum. Everything from I/Q demodulation to "what happens if" models.

Ditto. As a newbie much of it goes over my head but there's so much to absorb. The wonderful thing is that this will be archived for future generations.

Makes me think back... I didn't get my first computer and internet till 2000. Before that, figuring out how to fix certain problems took a lot of time. I couldn't just get on the internet and ask several people at the same time what to do. Just had a small handfull of people to rely on. I had to look for old books in the used bookstore and occasionally stumble across a set at a thrift store or antique mall. I found my first roundie in Southern California back in 99. I wanted it bad... it was a 64/65 Zenith... but had to pass because there was no way to get it in the back seat of my 67 Galaxie... and trust me... we got out the measuring tape! It was close!

Later, after discovering this place, my first thoughts were, "OMG! There's other people that do this? These people have so much cool stuff... and they know how to work on it!"

Today, all I can say is thank God for the internet, for those that originally thought up this site, and for all the great people that have been able to come together to share knowledge and experiences!

I have really been impressed with the knowledge base here, not only theory and design related, but fine restoration tips, model identification, parts and tool sources and some pretty good humor as well! This site is a real treasure.

That's for sure. Remember all the tech talk about rebuilding 15GP22s ?

I think the humor is my favorite part

There are other forums out there but this one's my fav.

The Internet and forums sure has changed the landscape. I had no idea that there were so many others into this old stuff, but also that there are replacements parts out there!
No more digging through junk boxes for hours at hamfests.

Ditto, ditto, ditto! I had been tinkering with old TV sets for years but figured I was all alone as far as sets from the 60s and up. I have to say, I will learn more in one year on here than I would ever learn without it. We need to make sure that it is always available and archived.

Another thing I like is the "One for all, & all for one" sentiment we have here...There's precious little of the jealousy bullshyte you see other places...Yeah, I'd LOVE to have a CT-100, but I'm almost just as happy to know that if one of you guys should score one, it'll be in good hands...

This group hug is making me tear up, but I second every word of it! The guys here are genuine gentlefolk and really interested in helping others enjoy the hobby.

The internet has completely opened doors for everyone worldwide, especially with people like us who collect the same things and have the same passions that go with it. I used to think I was a bit 'odd' hanging onto old TV sets and the likes...Once I discovered I wasn't the only one doing this, felt heaps better about my disorder!
