1951 ZENITH PortholeTV

Wished this was in my neck of the woods:

http://cgi.ebay.com/1951-ZENITH-CONS...item2a05993094

1951 - (H2437R) 16" console, wood (mahogany), chassis 24H20, "Irving"

Looks mighty fine.

How is it possible that I never heard of that show? I'm assuming it was a western comedy?

The seller must know a lot about these Porthole TVs:
"1951 - (H2437R) 16" console, wood (mahogany), chassis 24H20, "Irving" "

Is he someone on this forum?

Naw. It was a novelty song from the mid-60s-"The Ballad of Irving" by a guy named Frank Gallop. It concerns one Irving, a "tenderfoot" in the Olde West who manages to shoot himself. Kinda cute.

Frank was more famous as a CBS and NBC announcer. His biggest show was Perry Como doing the Kraft commercials.

That line was lifted from a page at the tvhistory.tv site:

Take care,
