I agree with Reece. Do not use this radio until you replace, at very least, the electrolytic filter capacitors in the power supply. If you do not know what these are, have the set serviced by a qualified person. This radio is old enough (again as Reece noted) to have components that will fail on a moment's notice; when they fail, they can destroy other components such as the power transformer almost literally in the blink of an eye. Replacements for power transformers, to say nothing of other parts, in radios of this vintage may be difficult or impossible to find, so it behooves you to preserve the originals if possible.

The cabinet is in fair to poor shape, judging from your photos. The front will definitely need refinishing, as I can see markings on the panel -- the beginning of a radio station call sign, plus a couple of numbers. Restaining with Minwax or any other type of furniture refinishing agent of the original cabinet color will hide these marks and restore the front panel to its original good looks (E. H. Scott radios had very good-looking cabinets when new; yours will too, if you work at it). There are bits of veneer missing on the lower front of the cabinet as well, so a refinishing job is in order as well for that section. In fact, I'd have the entire cabinet refinished so that no imperfections are missed. The result will be a radio that looks as good as it did when it was new.
