Man, you have had bad luck with starters. My mother has had two Ford Taurus's and did not replace the starter on either one. One went over 300,000 miles and the present one has around 150,000 miles on it.

Back closer to the subject of the thread-on antiqueradios.com, there is a thread about the extremely el-cheapo 12 inch B&W sets GE built in the early 1960s. I would bet GE did not guarantee the PC boards on these. In the TV shop I cleaned out, there were several of these. Only two had PC boards that were not completely fried. I was able to get these going, but they quit again, so I need to look at them. Everything the thread says about these sets is true!
