2 rca projection sets. CL5 and 8PCS41

The blond one (8pcs41) has channel 1, 5TP4 crt. The dark one (clubman cl5) is missing several parts. Dont really know what to do with these. I bought them as part of a package deal.

Im still trying to figure out how these things work with the crt pointing down. Must have a mirror in the bottom.
Any thoughts would be appreciated

I found a little info on the 8PCS41 on this website: http://www.jitterbuzz.com/indtv.html. Says 33 tubes plus 7 rectifiers! I say put it in a cold room.

From an old thread http://www.videokarma.org/showthread.php?t=51488 it seems like the Clubman was a $1400 set in 1948, and there were five versions. There was also a brief mention of it in Billboard 6/26/48 in a story about Boston hotels buying TVs - it said the Sheraton chain was using the Clubman, with a 15x20 screen large enough to be viewed by over 200 people!

Early RCA Projectors

If you look down the round hole on the Clubman's projector, you will see a large concave mirror at the bottom of the assembly. There is a clear plastic, currently covered with dust, lens surrounding the hole. This is the corrector lens. The image from the missing CRT is reflected by the concave mirror, through the corrector lens, to a flat mirror located behind the lenticular screen, and is finally displayed onto the screen.

I've always wondered how this works what with all those wires and hardware in the path of the light from the mirror,

Here's a link to a Philco paper on the fundamentals of projection TV systems.

http://www.myvintagetv.com/Apple%20P...n%20Lesson.pdf

The 1948 8PCS41 and the 1949 model 9PC41 are probably the most common projection sets found, the Clubman models are rarely found.
