I owned a couple Pintos back in the early 80's, my Uncle had a couple also.

The earlier ones actually were a pretty decent car if you got the 2.0L engine, the 1.6L was a miserable piece of junk though, the later ones (74+) with the 2.3L or the V6 and all the emissions equipment were also crap but still light years better than a Vega.

They were very under powered but the 2.0L engines would run forever if you took care of them.
The 4 speed manual Transmission was the weakest point, I rebuilt or replaced a lot of those, they came with a C4 Automatic too but that only made the lack of power worse.
