Set is worth an honest 10% of asking price.

I think "Buy it Now" isn't a good option if you're trying to get top dollar. If you set the price too high it'll scare away most people who'll think you're unreasonable. If you ask a reasonable price someone might have been willing to pay more.

For something like this set it's better to do a regular auction.

I had a look through this seller's listings just recently after I began to notice that he had numerous non-functioning sets for $200 a piece. Absolutely everything I found was priced way beyond reason. It was pretty laughable.

Oh god-I am beyond SICK of seeing this seller's stuff. He has had some of it up for months without a single bite. Another thing this seller should consider-Dumonts are fairly common on the East Coast, especially Pennsylvania/New Jersey, and the Craigslist asking price is usually under $200.

At any rate, his stuff has really clogged Ebay whenever I do local searches. I had kinda stopped looking, as a matter of fact. Thankfully, Banderson was able to spot that cache of cheap sets for me.

I picked up a front panel and bezel for a '49 Sylvania from him. It was a little more expensive than I would have expected, but it hardly mattered because the shipping was the expensive part. It was extremely well packed so there was no chance of it incurring damage.

The sets he's listed are from the estate of a tv repairman. I didn't suggest anything about their value so I don't know where he came up with his prices.

He seems to have dropped off of the face of the earth. He was going to notify me when he listed the sets. He hasn't given me feedback and he hasn't answered his cell phone. There was good communication up to that point.

At least we get some entertainment value from outrageous prices.

oh no-I saw he is advertising some of these same items on Craigslist as well! (just with a "best offer" request) Now he'll haunt my Craigslist searches, too!
