RCA VT-330 Remote Control and Programming
All,
I just bought an RCA VT-330 VCR at the thrift store, there was no remote with it but I have an universal remote. I can get it to play tapes and record manually but I cannot get it to program the VCR to record or even set the clock. Is there any way to get the remote to do those task or is there a manual way of doing from the front panel? If I need the RCA remote, where can I get one?

Just a thought, albeit not an answer to your problem:
Our thrift stores here are loaded with universal remotes from Dish Tv and DirectTV satellite systems. They have one or two "AV" buttons that are for programming. I currently use one I got for 90 cents to control a Sharp color set and a Philips VCR. It can control 4 things - Satellite Rcvr, DVR, and AV1 and AV2. I'm just using the AV1 and AV2 - and saved a bunch by getting it for 90 cents. Interestingly enough, the directory has a bunch of TV brands listed - and will control my Vizio-el-cheapo-LCDTV. If you can find one cheap, it might be worth trying for your VCR...

I think on an RCA you need a "menu/prog" button to get at the programming options. An RCA universal remote should get you there. The default codes should all be RCA, so the VCR1 button ought to give you access to all the controls unless someone had it set for a two VCR setup and changed it VCR2. It is a soft menu change under PREFERENCES and REMOTE CONTROL.
