What is this Sony?

Is this the famous indextron CRT?

No affiliation.

I have forwarded your query to the dept of duplicate redundancy and as soon as they run off some multiple copies and shred the rest we'll have an answer at some unspecified future date yet to be determined as it hasn't occurred yet.

lol, oops never added the linky
hehe

http://cgi.ebay.com/SONY-KX-4200-4-C...item3cb422d32e

As you can see it doesn't have trinitron badging or indextron badging to it.

Im under the assumption that it's not an actual trinitron CRT (no curvature, just flat like those early to mid 80's off the wall brand portable color units.

And the model is a KX.. In which every Trinitron out there I have seen starts with KV

Check the 4th picture at the bottom of the listing...looks like it clearly says "Trinitron" and has the 3 color logo.

The logo really doesn't show unless the pix is blown up... BUT what the heck is the "KX " series anyway?

Yes!

This one has a clip-on tuner, I see.

That's the (almost-as-rare-as-Indextron) 3.7" Profeel. I have it in my watch list, but don't plan to bid at that price. I have a mint one, which I paid much less for, with all accessories. As far as I know, the only Indextrons were the KXM370, and the FP60 & FP62 handheld projection sets.

The KX-4200 is a nice piece to add to a collection, and it's not up to me to judge the prices, so we'll see where it goes....

It's just a variation of the Sony KV 4000, with 3.7 inch Trinitron CRT. This one is nice, the tuner can be detached and operated as a pure monitor in the field with battery.
