How badly do you want it ? I'm PERSONALLY not too bitten by the "Suddenly its 1939 !" styling, but those old Zeniths, once gone thru, usually had EXCELLENT tone & performance... You MIGHT wait the rest of yr life B4 another one comes along, & it may be MORE money for LESS radio..

But the art deco (and other cutting edge for their time styles) sets have the boldest coolest look. I rather have the "Wow did come from outer space/is that a jukebox?" styled sets than the "What darned fool ruined a perfectly good dresser by installing this old radio or TV in it?" styled sets. Though if some chassis I want only came in a "plain Jane" cabinet I can live with the style to have the function.

My 0.02$.

Depends on how big a premium you're willing to pay for that particular cabinet. I recently offered my fully restored 12-S-471 to a guy for $1000 and he said No.

Why is that radio called a "Darth Vader" ??? I failed to see any resemblance to the villain of "Star Wars" in it.

Probably because it projects an ominous, imposing presence.

The finish looks pretty darn nice on that Darth Vader. Nothing a little touching-up can't help. I don't think it's worth as much as they are asking but it all depends on what their bottom line is and what a buyer is willing to spend. Nice looking radio!

That guy must not know the value of a quality restoration, Would $1000.00 cover your time and expence? I think a good bargain was passed up. (plug in, dust with lemon oil and enjoy- good value!)
