An amazing hoard. Frightening and sad: frightening that anyone would hoard sets in such a disorganized fashion and sad that they have been left to deteriorate.
What exactly is the point of this? Is it confirmed that these sets are trade-ins? Why was this place left in such a mess? (It reminds me of a nuclear holocaust scene like the one depicted in the "Twilight Zone"). Or did someone simply suffer from a bizzarre hoarding fetish? Terry |

I just watched the video finally - I like the part at the end with a little bit of on the road auto repair.
The TVs are too much for words! I wonder how many similar "collections" are still sitting undiscovered. |

I wonder if there is a warehouse somewhere with all the items SAMS made Photofacts of. Basically one of everything....

SAMS copyrights are still asserted. Scans of any SAMS can be purchased on the net from the copyright owners.

I guess if they made them up until early 00s, then i might be able to find one for my 1997 panasonic 20'', which would be awesome. |

Yes, Sams is still in business, https://www.samswebsite.com/ .
Anyone curious about what they did with those old sets could send them an email question. You can buy hardcopy or scans of any Sams literature from their website. Some public libraries also have a Sams subscription and can provide their members with a free scan or hardcopy of a Sams manual. Phil Nelson |

So how many of these sets did you rescue, and what became of the rest?

Look at it this way: that much stuff and more was put in landfills by just about every other one of the thousands upon thousands of appliance dealers in the country. Think about that.

Great video. This has to take the cake for finds, maybe forever? Overwhelming, really, to see that many sets and that much variety.
I know 2 semi-retired TV repairmen and both have some stuff in buildings. The one guy I have talked to again and again; he always seems very anxious for me to help him clean out but then he never calls me. Around 20 years ago he offered to let me borrow his utility trailer to haul sets from one building but I never followed up. I have no idea what he has or doesn't have. One day a couple years ago a big pile of sets showed up in the front yard of a farmhouse on a lonely backroad. I investigated, turned out this repairman had talked the owner into letting him store sets there; the owner's grandson had inherited it and was cleaning it out. There was a $ervice $aver 23v console & a flatchassis solid state plus a variety of later 70s stuff. Most ended up at the dump. Who knows how many places he had stuff hid away. The other guy has a building on his property, a decent sized 2-door commerical garage. I was in there close to 20 years ago and sets were stacked 3 high, packed tight. I have no idea what might be in there, but have often daydreamed. He did tell me that he had a couple Predictas. But, again, the find in this video beats all!

Phil's right. Hoarders are rarely restorers. They're just pack rats.
I can't watch that show "Hoarders." It makes me want to take those people out of their houses and shoot them. They're dirty, lazy, and irresponsible. I feel a little better now...
