Willemite was the magic material phosphor used by Farnsworth in the early oscillite tubes. I wonder if RCA/Zworykin used the same material?

In the first edition of "Television" by Zworykin and Morton (1940) they talk about the variations in Willemite-based phosphors dependent on the amount of manganese activator, the speed of quenching the melted material, and degradation that occurs due to forceful grinding producing strained surfaces in the grains. So, it appears Willemite was well known to everyone, at least by then.
