I'd really like to have one of these but don't have enough cash for this one.

This one's more my speed. Think I'll go and take a look tomorrow, Is the gasket missing between the CRT and the set?.

Find the cash for the 621TS. Turn to a life of crime, hit up the in-laws, cash in the 401k, or I will WU the cash to you and you pick it up for me.

Oh yeah. A Raytheon M-1101. I have one...

The Tuner is a real mechanical trip. The Set is a good performer. I restored it, and it's been playing ever since without complaint.

Dave if you really want that set I'll pick it up for you and take it to a pack and ship. No guarentees after that.

Man that is a beauty. I think I'm in love with it already. Thanks for the pics I can see what the original grill cloth looks like and also that the sellers pics of the front of the set look complete. PS. I have a locomotive too not restored yet though.

Hi Eric, I called the seller and told him I'd come by and look at it tomorrow. I'll post to this thread when I get there see the set and talk to the seller. Dave jumped on it first but he's in Penn. That would be a pricy deal with shipping and all.

In the interest of bi-coastal VK fun, I will stand down and save myself $ which will give me some $ to look at a Zenith BW near me. Working they say.

Two 621's here already. I'll get greedy later when an Atlantic coast set jumps up far away from a fault line.

Nothing wrong with that Dave. Keep watching the thread I'll let you know what happens. I may just brake my piggy bank open and see if I can squeeze enought together to take it home after all I don't have even one!

If the $ are right, go for it. This is one of the most desireable sets of the post-war era and the $ are beyond right. After this set, it is downhill to most post-war sets. Pre-war is another story.

Look for cabinet problems first. Bad refinishing. Missing brass parts. Decals gone.
If the finish is smooth and not cracked, this is a bonus. It should be an almost glossy finish.

The chassis is the least of the concerns. That is what we restore with lots of help here. Furniture is for another forum. If you have the chance to test the CRT, you will help yourself greatly.

Good luck on the set. The 621 really is a great looking table top set, and $650 is a good price. I'm in the early stages of restoring mine with a thread going here. Maybe if you get the set you'll be able to learn from a mistake or two of mine.

Better hurry! That's a steal. I'm not going after it, but I know that many who read this thread, probably WILL.
