resistor confusion

hey all i will probably sound silly for asking this but i am still troubleshooting this motorola and the resistors in the yoke call for 2- 470 ohm half watt and 1-4700 ohm 2 watt . the confusion here is that the sams calls for a 4700 ohm 2 watt but the resistor measures 470 and it is a 2 watt resistor so could this be a misprint from sams or could this resistor have went down in value.the sams dont show k ohms for this resistor but rather just ohms.its just that the numbers here are the same,470 and sams says 4700.

Sams is often wrong. Misprints are common. I have found capacitors marked in the Sams as .01 but in the set were .1. It's always best to read the color codes or the value printed on the part.

problem is what the colors look like is yellow, brown, black and i think that comes out to 4.1k so its still wrong. so really it should be something like 4.7 k.

well it looks like brown instead of violet and yes it makes sence unless the color changed from heat. but now if it is 470 and i put the 4.7 in what may happen here it may hold back even more? resistors usually go up in value not down. yellow violet black is 47 ohms. the colors on this resistor is yellow, brown, and a darker brown, which there is only brown on the resistor table.

I doubt a 4700 would change to 470 - much more likely that the colors have darkened with age and it really is a 470.

i am just trying one last ditch effort to find out whats going on with this chassis between the low hv and the wavy lines on the extreme left screen where the convergence is off alittle and the horiz centering and height is almost turned to one side of the adjustment. could someone give me a hint as to what caps or resistors in what area i might change to maybe fix this problem. i have the chassis out again and and i am marking caps to change already.disc in the yoke and other caps in the horiz and vert circuits i will be changing. i know i must be missing something here as i am not as good as all you members that have fixed these sets for many years.i only have minimal experience with these old sets.if maybe i get the full hv back everything will or may fall back in place.b+ is right, all tubes are fine and tested and it just seems like a simple thing that im overlooking since the set has a great picture, vivid colors but its still not right. any good hints, i woud be greatful as ill change anything at this point to solve this issue and besides it cant hurt changing components in an old set but rather make it better.

Changing random groups of parts is the wrong way to fix anything. You may never solve the problem that way. All you will end up with is more problems and a set full of crappy chinese parts. diagnose the problem and fix it right.

no i dont like process of elimination but at this point i have no where else to go with this crazy set so i was going to stay in the hv and yoke section and with alittle luck maybe i can nail down whats going on here. i dont have cap testers, or scopes and with all the mistakes in the sams folder, where do i go from here. it is frustrating because im an auto tech and i run into electricle problems and it is hell sometimes and with cars i dont change things unless i know they are bad but with this set, well i dont know.maybe this set will be the exception to the rule.
