Need some info

Hey, I have a radio I picked up a while back, and when I was real real yung, my grandma had one of these exact ones, and not too long ago, she gave it to me.

I rigged a 63volt battery with 9 volts, and 2 C type batterys, and im wondering who actually made this radio, and what year this radio was from.

The radio works, but its kinda distorted, I tried cranking up the B+ by adding a 9v or two, and it didnt make much of a difference, except get it a little louder. (and hotter)

Anyone have any info on this type of radio? does anyone have any sams for it?

There's an RCA logo on the speaker, so perhaps it is an RCA clone??

Hmmm.... no model number, "Eldorado" isn't listed in Sams Photofact index at all... not much to go on. You might ask at the forum at antiqueradios.com.

Hi Mbates14. i think it is RCA chassis RC-1149 manufactured between 1944-45. it used tubes: 1R5, 1U4, 1U5, 3V4..???
i may have a schematic. pm me

actually it manufactured in 1954, operated on 115vdc or battery (3v and 67.5v).

DOES NOT run off AC. has no circuits for operating off AC.

I have the Sams for the RCA RC-1149. Doesn't look like a match - different control and component layout.

You'll probably need to replace all of the wax paper caps. Those absorb moisture over the years, used or not. And cause leakage currents which mis bias the tubes. See http://www.geocities.com/wa2ise/radios/repair.htm and http://www.antiqueradio.org/recap.htm

i meant that i would like to know what kind of radio this was, considering i have NEVER seen anything like it. besides the cowhide philco I had which was a AC/DC radio. This one is DC only.
