Anyone heard of a Showers brand cabinet for Atw. Kent?

Ran across an empty highboy cabinet at a garage sale, perfect condition, no innards. Still had a metal tag on the back that said both Atwater Kent and "Showers". Found out Showers was an Indiana cabinet maker. I have an AK chassis or two, just wondering if anyone might know what would have fit into this cabinet or has ever seen one.

I'm thinking about going back by there (they probably didn't sell it) with a 55 chassis and see if it fits. It had a fairly small rectangular hole for the front of the chassis, may be 6x9, which kinda reminded me of the 55/60 series.

I'll post a pic if I get one.

I went back to look at this cabinet, the guy still has it, and I measured the chassis shelf at 11 x 22" max size for the chassis. I will have to dig out my AK 55 chassis and see, but I suspect it's bigger than that. The speaker hole was 8-3/4, which seems small for an F4 which is what the 55/60 would have used. So I suspect it's for a smaller chassis. Forgot to get any pics. :-\

Yes, Showers was a cabinet manufacturer for some of the AK models and I believe for other radio brands too. Another was Kiel, who made the famous Kiel tables that house some AK radios. Not sure what model would fit in this one. If it can be had reasonably, might be good to grab it and save it. Undoubtedly, someone can use it!

The Showers company was in Bloomington Indiana in the 1920's. The building
later became building #1 of the RCA complex down there. It was open into the
mid 90's before it was closed.

I have the Kiel table with a Model 60 inside...drove all the way to North Dakota in the winter for that one.

Finally remembered the other one I was trying to think of - Red Lion made cabinets for AK.

I never did buy this one, guy wanted $50 or $75, something like that.

I believe those custom cabinets could hold several models and the front panel would be drilled and cut to suit. A lot of the late twenties metal "canned ham" sets would just slide into place on a shelf with only the controls showing in front.
