I don't know if a 17CDP4 is a sub number?

I had one rebuilt a dozen years ago by a guy in Texas, no longer in business though. A spare is tempting but $99 is a bit more than I want to pay for a tube to sit in my closet.

I like those RCA tvs.. If i bought this tube, it would be a situation where a brightener would be a GOOD thing

You mentioned a loose base, the 17CDP4 doesn't have a base cap, it's a small neck high deflection angle tube so it's definitely not a sub.
