Atwater-Kent model 46 console
Today, I picked up this Atwater-Kent model 46 AC operated console from the flea market. The cabinet is in decent shape and I'll probably do no more than clean it up. Unfortunately, the speaker cone is shot and that may be a problem. I got this one for $65; which, I don't think was a bad price.

AK 46 from 1929. That's going to be worth preserving. The speaker can be reconed. Of course the field coil, transformers, etc. have to be checked out. This was the era when the "ham can" AK's could be slid into an optional console. Is the ganged tuning arrangement still working all three caps together?

Nice project there! A TRF set is a very interesting change from the usual stuff we work on here.
I got the speaker in my best radio rebuilt by this guru http://soundremedynj.com/ No affiliation of course, but a good speaker is essential. I can't wait to see the progress Last edited by DavGoodlin; 12-04-2012 at 09:50 AM. |
