I'm not sure of the brand looked like Silvertone logo but I don't think it said that. I spotted this at a Flea Market and they got a $350.00 price tag on it.

I'd like to get your guys opinion on what you'd think it's worth.

The owner never been around the last two times I looked at it so that's all the info I've got on it. Any opinions on price?

I think this TV looks like it is an Stromberg-Carlson.

correct, it is a Stromberg Carlson. Value, who knows, probably up about $50 if the case in nice and it's complete, maybe more to the right person, maybe not. The guy is on really good drugs if he thinks it's worth $350 unless he sells it to a fishtanker with more money than brains. I had two of them in that same cabinet but they were hand painted in a Chinese pattern instead of a regular finish. Stromberg had that option for a few years. I got them from a fellow collector for free but when I moved and had to unload some stuff, he offered to buy them back, but I just gave them back to him.

They are good running sets when recapped.

It is a later (though not the last) version of the Stromberg-Carlson Chinese classic. Earlier versions were combos; this is the first TV-only version with the narrower cabinet. They want way too much. The Ivory and Red versions are much nicer (but not $350 nice).

I believe it is a Stromberg-Carlson, the price is subjective. Most 1950 tvs are in the $40-$75 range but some people like these Chinese cabinets. Unfortunately the cabinet is probably worth more then the TV. So to the right buyer $300 would not be out of line. I have one 1949 Brunswick set with a Chinese cabinet so for me one is enough. Others might decorate their whole house in this style.

I suppose this Chinese style set was made in USA, not like today where most American style TVs are made in China...

I don't guess this is the same set I've seen a couple times? On vacation each year in Kentucky I've seen one like this at a flea market with that kind of price, guy is never around. I agree, sadly one of those few sets with a cabinet worth more than the TV. Most 21" consoles from that era are worth $35 tops.

They are certainly worth more than $50. I don't think I've ever seen one go for that cheap in 12 years of watching flea bay.

Rare they are not. It was a popular style in the 50's and was SC best seller. Because of the modern oriental style, people tended to keep them long after the innards stopped working as opposed to curbing them like 60's and 70's consoles.

The green ones , the white ones, and Avodire(blond) ones, are rare though, especially the green. these were hand painted chinioserie and no two are alike...It would cost a fortune to produce them like that today.

It is inspired by an earlier 1920's radio design that were the top of line that helped SC gain a Cadillac status in radio.

The one drawback is the carved panels are all identical, and as consoles they were generally behemoths. It would have been nice for them to switch up the panel designs for each year of production and offer some dragon panels like the early radio.

350.00 is way to much , esp. for a none working tv could be even missing parts 50.00 to 75.00 at best. im sure this is a case where they probley got on the internet ,found one that was completely restored to working condition and they think there's should worth the same.

Most of them have radios, tell you what, why don't you bring yours over, I'll give you $50 for it....

Then I will repurpose the doors for an audio shelf cabinet, maybe get handy with a skilsaw and use the carcass for the project, sell the radio on flea bay for $75 the speaker for $20 and get another $20 for the dead TV Chassis.

well if you like the cabinet and the style buy it ,there is no set price on anything thats used.

I was just pointing out the hackbay mentality that keeps certain sets from being only $50 as opposed to other dead cube consoles, that many times, aren't even worth that.
