Maggy Corner Console
I picked this up today in Minneapolis (12 hour round trip). It's a 16" Magnavox Brittany corner console. Set is fully in tact, nothing missing, and the cabinet is in very nice shape with only a couple scratches that need touching up. Chassis is very clean. One upper door is warped about 1/4" so it doesn't close correctly. Haven't tested the 16ap4 yet because the set is still in my van. It stands almost 5 feet high and I will need help getting it out of the van before I can test the crt.If anyone has
Got the set out of the van today and oipened it up. Chassis is a ct245 listed in sams 91a-9 schematic only. if anyone has Magnavox factory prints for this chassis it would be greatly appreciated. The crt is a 16Fp4. It appears to be the original type this set was built with because there is a factory paper label glued onto the cabinet just below the yoke assembly indicating to only replace with a 16Fp4 type. This tube has the typical DuMont 2nd anode button. I pulled the Sams print on this from my Sams library and it shows the set was produced with a 16ap4 and a 16ep4 but dosen't mention the 16fp4 in this set. The HV lead seems to be original with original connector to connect to the tube, and there is also a metal band that goes over the front circumference of the tube to hold it in place. I dont think the metal band would have been used on a metal cone tube due to the HV present on the shell of a metal tube. I have never come across a 16Fp4 until this one. It was slow to wake up so I cleaned it with the Beltron and now it has very good emission and about 8 seconds of life test. Not great, but surely will display a decent picture. Someone has done a strange mod to this set. There is a DPDT togle switch on the back, with 2, 2 wire lamp cords leading into the HV cage. My guess is that it is to shut down the HV when the set is in Phonograph mode. I will investigate this more later.

That's one sweet set Bob! Fingers are crossed about the 16AP4, hopefully yours is better than my one full-o-air.

Very cool, Bob. I have always been surprised how few corner sets were made over the years.
I have admired to have a corner set, but alas, I no longer have any corners in my house. :-)

You'll just have to build that addition and make lots of little rooms so you have lots of little corners :-)
