Recycling of TV sets is done by the county waste centers in PA and usually get paid by the pound.
They are very uncooperative about you taking anything out.
I thought it was kind of funny what the guy told me when I got there. "It's five dollars to recycle one of those, but free for a flat panel. I don't know why they treat 'em different."

My guess is that, being in Conservative Country, the recycling center doesn't get a lot of tax money, so they have to charge for the things that are more difficult to recycle in order to stay open.
