Nice find!! As much as I love floor models, I would love to have a nice 21" tabletop or convertible similar to this. Congrats!

Nice score!
I don't understand what you are saying in this sentence.

That makes sense. Several folks here have grammar, spelling and or typo issues that give me headaches(no offense meant)....And I have a better tolerance for spelling errors than average thanks to being part of a failed teaching experiment in kindergarten called "see and say". It was a moronic program that had children infer the text based on what the word looked like and the pictures in the book. It did not help me read one damn bit, and my folks had to teach me phonics on their own to do what the folly of the system could not. As a result when I see a spelling or word I'm not familiar with my brain automatically reads(and often sees) it as the closest spelled word I know, and I have to recognize that the approximation does not fit the context of the sentence in order to force my self to go back and apply phonics and sometimes guess work to then get it right.
Those who want to improve their spelling should use Firefox as a web browser. It spell checks what you type on sites like this....At least mine does with the addons I have. Many little spelling errors I would recurrently make have gone away from the constant corrections.

Nice , it has a good look to it , in the one photo the glare on the top almost makes it look like it is two toned - wood sides and white top.
whats the double D set in the last picture ? mike |

I guess this was one of the lower end models. I say that because of the sparse control panel and the extremely thin cabinet bottom. Is the bottom made of sheet metal? I looks to thin to provide any support if it is wood.

Looks like a hot chassis design. I don't see a power transformer, and a tip off are the selenium rectifiers. Guess they were cheaper than series string type tube rectifiers, though I don't think the tube makers ever designed any for TV work. Ones with the correct heater current.

Cool score!! I never really was a fan of those donut styled chassis... however, it looks like it should be pretty simple to work on. Have you tried to apply power to the light and see if it works? I am often surprised that a 50+ year old tube light still works!
Firefox isn't some miracle browser... Internet Explorer does the same exact thing. In fact, mine just corrected miracle for me because I butchered it up in the previous sentence. Just learn how to spell.

AMEN!! Isn't it amazing how we get ourselves into that pickle? "I'm already working on these two sets, but I will take the back off this one and just have a quick peek inside!" Man, been there, done that! Heck, I'm doing it right now! At least the light works. Those neon lights can go on for years and years. Here's a story about one going on for over 70 years! http://articles.latimes.com/2012/may...-neon-20120526 I would have loved seeing the looks on these guys' faces when they discovered it!
