Not all Space Phone remotes are ultrasonic, I think just the earliest ones were, according to another post I saw somewhere around here. Also, I just purchased an infrared Space Phone remote, remanufactured, in original Zenith box for 7 bucks. It is from around 1981 according to an ad I saw. I don't normally gather infrared remotes, but this one is unique and cheap enough.

Finally, a question: how could anyone smash a transducer without completely destroying the remote?

I think it was kids poking them out, couldnt happen by accident,
saw quite a few. Usually kids put money & other thin
object through the slots of TV's. Can be destructive beasts, I know
I had 2 of em. And no antenna rod was safe with the little dears
around..........

May have been Spacephone with IR just dont remember them.
I bought a SM1971P new & it had spacephone & ultra remote.
Awesome set, pecan wood cabinet, comb filter etc. Sold it a few yrs later & it was running still a few yrs ago til they junked it.

Dang, sucks to hear of the junking of another good Zenith like that one.

Anyways, if anyone has Space Commander reference guides of any vintage (mostly hankering for 70s and later though) and wouldn't mind scanning and sending me a copy, I would appreciate it. Fun reading for this clicker junkie. An RCA guide would be nice too, I have a couple of odd-looking ultrasonics. Just added another Space Commander to the mix, woohoo!
