Rings on a monochrome CRT.
What does the rings on a monochrome CRT do? They look like thin silver purity rings. Was kinda surprised to see that. I know it's not for purity, but what do they do in this situation?

Is this a monitor you're speaking of? If so, what kind?

No, it's a TV, the 5" with the plastic screen from the other thread. I thought I bumped it and was causing a weird geometry issue., but not the rings. yoke is on all the way, so not sure now.

This is the geometry issue. Notice the trapezoid like thing going on.
Thing is, it didn't this be fore, and the yoke IS mechanically secure and won't move on it's own, and hasn't been bumped as far as I can tell. Doesn't appear to be a rotation issue, because the horizontal lines are level.

The centering rings could cause some geometry issues, it can't hurt to experiment with them and see if it helps, just make a note of where they were to start with.

Can I touch those rings with my bare fingers or should I use a glove?

They shouldn't have any juice going through them, they are just magnets.
Avoid bumping into any exposed connectors nearby though. |

When I first saw your screenshot I thought "Huh? How is this thing displaying those orange bars?" Then it occurred to me, you blocked those parts out with a paint program or something.

Lol yea, I blocked out some parts of the IRC channel to avoid judgement.
