4 new aditions to the family

I recently rented several of my sets out to a movie crew for a film set in the early 70s. They had acquired a few sets from local listings that they wanted me to have when they were finished.
The film is an HBO only feature called Cinema Verite that airs this Saturday evening. It features several from my collection and 1 or 2 that Eric H gave me.

Weird Packard Bell BW with tray style top and handle. CRT checks ok, set works but needs filters.



Panasonic blue plastic set. solid state, dirty tuner. Works


Zenith 15L22 chassis. cord cut off, CRT checks new, full emissions at 4.5v. I think this one deserves to be brought up on the varic watching the current.




Toshiba Blackstripe: Retro, Atomic Space Age, Jetsons, Eames, Historic, Groovy Bachelor Pad Plastic Junk. Starting bid $750
Dirty tuner, works.

I wish I had known they wanted stuff that late, I have an awesome Toshiba 19" in a White Mod cabinet similar to your Yellow one. (I think you may have seen it?)

I don't get HBO so I won't be able to see it, any possibility you could record it?

They told me the thing was set in 1972 so I gave them sets that would have been in use at that time. I think they used the mobile home style Magnavox and the Motorola with the weak crt. They may have taken the little one with the wrong crt in it. Then they got about 10 of my sets. I just hope they get the bw images on the bw sets and color on color. I labeled the sets as we loaded them.
They picked up these plastic things at goodwill thinking they looked cool, not knowing that they were 10 years to new.
Someone here on the farm already fell in love with the yellow one and claimed it. I love the consoles and cant wait to get them working.

What really impressed me with that set is the fact that it is designed well enough to have the hot running power tubes at the top of the chassis . Having the 5U4 as well as the horizontal output and damper tubes well above all the other electronics means that things like the IF cans and caps wont be baking in the heat of these tubes . So many sets I've seen had the power tubes at the bottom of a vertical chassis , where did the genius engineer think the heat was going to go , down ??? Or maybe those manufacturers purposefully had the power tubes on the bottom , all the better to sell TVs every few years as the circuits get cooked in the rising heat from the ill placed tubes .

It's great to see the thought put into the design of that Packard Bell , That would be a set I'd be proud to own ......

PS , the way the rectifier and horizontal output tubes angle down like that kinda reminds of an unbridled set of breasts , happily swinging free of the unnatural squashing effect of the Bra

Dude, I think you have hit on one big reason for the obsession with tubes and round screens here, neither of which I'm into. Don't get me wrong, I love breasts, I just don't care for top-heavy chicks, yanno? Those who don't even need a bra, and have a body type to match, hottest of them all to me.
