Metal Philco Tabletop

I picked up a Philco 51-T1601 tabletop today. Looks mostly original except for a few replaced tubes and a volume knob that doesn't match. The metal cabinet is good but for one ding in the top and a missing back. Looks to have the original Philco 16WP4. Pictures to follow. Any thoughts on these? Good performers?

Congratulations, This is one of my favorite vintage sets for watching. Very good picture and excellent sound. Let me know if you need service info for this.
Paul

Looks like the set off of Happy Days! Talk about one super crisp and well contrasted picture! Wow! No wonder Paul likes to use them as regular watchers.

I got it from a guy in Manalapan. He'd had it in his man cave for a few years. Swore he'd never had the nerve to plug it in. Still, I'd love to get my hands on a crt checker to see if its good before I dig into a recap.

i have a crt checker that the end to plug in to this type of crt is missing but it could be wired to fit this kind of socket i just haven't sat down to figure it out but if your not far i have a crt tester and i could check it , also have a fly tester in case you wanted to see if thats ok , worse thing that could happen if you recap it without testing the crt would be you'll find out how good or bad the crt is after all has been done but if you get no raster you wont know if the crt is at fault.

Is that Manalapan in Jersey or Florida? I honestly, never heard of it mentioned.

Sorry, Manalapan NJ. I'm currently living in Nutley, NJ, so I'm around 45-60 minutes from Rockaway.

Very nice. I have the maroon version but haven't had a chance to restore it yet. Now you guys have me itching to get it up on the workbench. It's the only all glass 16" set I've encountered so far.
