1963 JVC Delmonico 8PV-47U portable TV

Howdy! New to the forum, this is my first post. I am a forum heavyweight in hot rodding forums but this is my first foray into the electronics world. I am building a reproduction show car from the early 60s and the guy had a small TV in the car. after about 3 years of searching I finally found someone who recognized the TV as a 1963 JVC Delmonico 8PV-47U portable. Does anyone here know how I can track one of these down? The guy who identified it for me said they were fairly common for a set this old. I see that there have been a couple on ebaY in the last year.

If anyone can help I would appreciate it greatly. Am on a bit of a time crunch.

I think I saw one two weeks ago on ebay.....

If you want one, watch ebay and craigs list till you find one.....

It shouldn't take more than 2 or 3 weeks to get one....

Good luck....

The set on eBay wasn't sold so maybe the seller still has it, might try contacting them and asking.

Thanx for the lead Eric, that is exactly the machine I need. I think I might have already contacted this guy, I remember seeing the auction. Maybe not, I will definitely send him a note (again?!). His auction says "cancelled by seller, error in listing" which kinda tells me he found someone local who wanted it.

Delmonico seems to have been an importer, probably seeling goods to retailers. They brought a lot of JVC products into the USA, and also imported fancy German console stereos, i think made by Korting. If you google Craigslist Search, you will find search engines that can do a nationwide craigslist search.

You don't need a special search engine to sift through every craigslist site. Just add "site:craigslist.org" at the end of your search phrase and your everyday search engine will search 'em all. For example, try this to search for "delmonico tv"

delmonico tv site:craigslist.org

I know this works with Bing, Google, and Yahoo. Haven't tried other engines.

By specifying a different name after "site:" you can search any other domain name. For example, this will find old VideoKarma discussions that mention the RCA CT-100:

CT-100 site:videokarma.org

I looked at the Sams 618 on that model. A lot of stuff jammed in that small package. It had a few tubes, that you find only in European sets, such as 6BX6 and an odd dual triode in the tuner.
It also uses an AC capacitor in each series string to drop the line voltage, as it uses a series-parallel heater circuit.

I realize the chances of the one I end up with working are slim to none but it is the appearance that is critical in this application.

Even if you get a non-functional one, that don't meant it can't be made to work...This forum is full of folks that repair sets like that as a hobby.

Bingo! That's why I joined! Every time I get a new car to restore I joint a group dedicated to that car and restoration is a cinch. I expect this will be no different. Always find the experts.
