RCA XL-100 model GKR688P October 1984 CTC-120 25" console rescued

Picked this one up yesterday curbside sitting next to an old couch. Tv was dirty and cleaned up nicely. Runs good. Just has a blank space at the top of screen about 1" down and a space at bottom maybe 1/4". I used to know what causes this but its been awhile. Tried to get pics up but having trouble.

Same sort of problem I'm having with my 1978 19" XL-100, which I'm yet to diagnose.

Try adjusting the vertical size control on the back of the chassis. Besides this, those '80's RCA's rarely had vertical failures.

Dont remember any vert problems on the CTC120 but
probably an electrolytic.

Jons earlier set if it is the chassis I am thinking of had
2) 220 K ohm & a transistor that was very common vert
problem. Symptoms were small pix with some retrce lines IIRC.

No retrace lines here. Just the black area at top and barely at the bottom.

Thanks for the info, I've got to pull the back and check exactly what chassis it has. I turned it around to check the label for now, model is FC 444 W.

Chassis in mine is a CTC88AC. Is that the one you're thinking of? If so, where are the suspect resistors and transistor?

Turns out it was nothing. Been using the set every night with my CED player and couldn't be better.
