At that pre-war time Philco was advertising the beam of light pickup instead of the replaceable needle..

Does the radio have a swing out type loop antenna in the bottom of the cabinet? The black cardboard type materal, that covers the loop assembly is the same type, that the back cover was made from.
They still make the stuff. The back covers from the Sauder assemble-it-yourself furniture, still uses it.
