My non-working KV-1723 hasn't a hint of cataract, but the vinyl faux-wood overlay on the side is peeling up from the bottom about an 1/8th of an inch. I'll have to check my late fathers' old KV-1210 - it's in storage in his detached garage.
I'd imagine that the cataracts form with exposure to sunlight or temperature extremes more than age. Cheers,
