Is this what I think it is?

This is a picture of the motor on a Zenith K666 radio/phono. Dated to 1953.
The off white, cloth like tape on the motor winding. Could that be asbestos?

Looks like it, it won't hurt anything as long as you don't damage or disturb it.

Could be. If it was mine Id probably pput a coat of varnish or shellac on it if it looks like there are loose fibers, to contain them. Ive encountered quite a bit of asbestos over the years... But prob ok if your not creating breathable dust. My house has an asbestos roof, still in decent shape after 85 years...hate to think whats its gonna cost if it ever needs work though...

If it goes get a metal roof. In most places it can go on top of
2 layers & be code. Weighs nothing compared to shingles.......
Love mine, only $1500 more and almost imposable to leak.
