If any more plaid user upholstered TVs appear we will have to coin the phrase 'Scotched TV'....I wonder how scotched the owner was when the decision was made to give it a fabric skin?

Damn straight ! Seriously, if I didn't want them, I'd at least try to find homes for them. The "Pagoda roof" coupes have a decent following nowadays. If the S-class is a 6.3 V-8, that's a megabuck car just going to rack & ruin.

This 630 was hideous indeed, it is nice to see that you are having good luck with restoring its original finish.

I spent a couple of hours last night removing some more of the glue. It's now about 95% gone. Seems that because the upholstery cloth was installed so long ago, it protected the original wood finish underneath from wear and tear over the years. The finish on the cabinet is in excellent shape with almost no blemishes. All I'll have to do it a little touch up, and of course fill the damn tack holes. No refinishing needed.

The 630TS is a must-have in a vintage TV collection.

Here's mine. It is in it's original finish with the matching RCA stand. It was the easiest electronic restoration of all the sets I've ever worked on.

That's Amptech Systems DVD. John Horvath puts them out. Has 4 vintage test patterns.
