Spotted at SA: Sony KV-27AVR CD combo
Saw this at Salvation Army last month, in complete working order. It is a 27-inch TV/AM/FM/CD combo from 1987. The "TV" section is just a monitor with composite video input and power cord, no audio section or tuner. The "Receiver" section contains the radio and television tuners along with a single CD player. The NTSC tuner built into the receiver is cable-ready and has an MTS decoder. The speakers are part of the cabinet.
The receiver also handles the on-screen display. Unlike most contemporary Sony TVs which had primarily green OSD, the on-screen display is white with back borders. I assume this is because it was easier to implement without direct access to the RGB signals. Was this Sony's only attempt at a combo? It's certainly the only one I've ever seen. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Never seen one. Someone paid a LOT of money for
it. Dont remember any other big combos from them but they would be super rare. Looking at the S# this is #76 built. Looks good. If you have the room & want to move the beast you will have the only one for many miles around. IMHO a set like this is a good one to save. 73 Zeno

Wow that's a weird one! Unusual there is no AM tuner for something made in 1987. I like how they implemented the TV tuner into the stereo unit.
That serial number makes me thing it's a really rare bird. |

That's an 80s console even I would grab.
