While I don't have the print, or an RCA manual to share, I do have my notes for the early XL100s. There is a diode off one end of the Brightness Control - it's a little glass diode, and may be behind the chassis, off a stake on PW300. It shorts, and Brightness becomes un-adjustable. RCA issued a goldenrod for it - their notation is CR103, and it is electrically tied to pin 9 of the MAL001 module. The other end connects to the low resistance (470 or 680 ohm) resistor off the Brightness control.

Also, make sure the ACM switch (if equipped) isn't the problem - cycle it through on-off a few times. I've gone on service calls where a dirty ACM switch was the only problem.

The CTC44, 46 and 48 are all very similar - most of the MA_ series module chassis are 75% compatible, with the later CTC60-CTC72 being the least alike, with Horizontal and Vertical sweep changes.
