Silvertone badged Electrostatic deflection set similarly to Teletone TV-208
A few years ago I bought a basket case Silvertone electrostatic deflection set off of Kamakiri. I've been on a an electrostatic deflection TV restoration kick the last 2 weeks and I finally have the stones to try and restore the thing. This set was given a used parts recap in the mid 60s by what I presume was a kid or someone who had no business doing this kind of work. There's all kinds of bad workmanship from small screwes being replaced by gigantic bolts to that wire splice covered in a bandaid to keep the lectricity from bleeding out.
![]() ![]() Stuff is certainly miss wired but I have a problem...I don't know the model the cabinet and chassis layout look identical to a Teletone TV-208. Does anyone know the Silvertone model and if it has any significant differences from the TV-208 schematic (the 208 Sam's is on the ETF and I have been working off of it).

Silvertone models 9115,9116 in Sams 97-16 look like a match.
Edit, they are close, but not identical schematically. Tele Tone probably had to cheapen it up a bit for Sears. Last edited by Kevin Kuehn; 07-28-2020 at 03:10 PM. |

Appears you can download the schematic here.
https://elektrotanya.com/silvertone_.../download.html Apparently it's the same as Tele Tone TV-208TR which is also in Sams 95-6. |

Thanks. The Teletone schematic uses a different HV osc tube and the HV box wiring was so hacked up I wasn't sure if it was factory or a 60s vintage hack.

I have a 1949 model 9116. They made a couple variations as I did a lot of research at that time and only found a couple online exactly like mine. Going off distant memory there were a different number of tubes in the variants and at least 1 of them like mine has an electrolytic cap on top that is not in a can. If that is anything like what you have I can dig out my schematic and send scans if neccessary, if the ones provided in the link dont work.
I did do a post on mine months ago with general questions that wont help you. Mine also had a lot of bad work done to it, including electro hacking and it put a stop to my progress, although Im hoping to work on it again soon. My schematic is not 100% compatible with mine which was a problem for me, but you have a better understanding of electronics than me so wont be a problem. |

Firestone used that same set also. The Teletone version is the only one that had a true "porthole" screen.

I got mine working... mostly. The IF and tuner are so messed up that not only does it not tune anything on normal channels but the IF output frequency I have to set my B&k 1077 (I used to inject test patterns) to significantly changes depending on which channel the tuner is set to... I'm not even sure how that's possible.
I don't have a working sweep marker generator for the old 21MHz IFs so I can't make it any better presently. Sweep video and sound seem fine at least.
