WARCI (Wisconsin) cancels the rest of their 2020 swap meets

From the club president:

"I regret to inform you that after much debate, the WARCI Board has decided to cancel the remainder of the 2020 WARCI swap meet dates. The health and safety of our members is our first priority. Due to the age demographic of our membership, a swap meet poses an unacceptable level of risk to our buyers, sellers, volunteers, and their families.

The WARCI Board will continue to monitor the situation throughout the year and reassess the feasibility of the January and March 2021 swap meets at a later date.

On behalf of the WARCI board, I would like to wish you and your family the best of health and we thank you for your patience as we navigate the ongoing COVID-19 situation. We look forward to seeing you (in-person!) in 2021.

Thanks,

Nick Tillich
WARCI President"

WARCI club members will be able to participate in virtual ZOOM meeting later this year. Members will find information in the club's September newsletter.

Well this sucks.... I understand why the decision was made, but it still sucks to have some of the highlight events of the your year cancelled when you've already lost pretty much all the others already.

Winnie the Pooh refers to General Secretary Xi of the PRC. It's a pretty common meme in China and Hong Kong, based on the fact that Xi sort of looks like Winnie the Pooh. He's been cracking down on and censoring those memes. Some English speakers in China and Hong Kong have been referring to Xi as "Winnie the Flu" in reference to the COVID-19 pandemic, and Xi's total lack of transparency and non-response to the initial outbreak in Wuhan.

I hadn't seen that comparison before of the 2 before.

Although the "live" swaps will not take place, WARCI will be hosting a virtual Zoom meet later this year. Members can find information in the upcoming September WARCI club newsletter. If you haven't yet joined the WARCI club, or you forgot to renew your 2020 membership, let this be a reminder.

Even the Oak Creek and the Cedarburg meet was canceled.
You'd think, there would be enough space outside for social distancing.
I wear the silly-assed mask when I'm inside an establishment, but see no reason to wear it outside.
In Milwaukee, some restaurants that have outside seating have been fined several times for mandatory mask wearing. It's kind of tricky eating and drinking, wearing one.

Its ok to protest, riot and loot, but we cant have a swap meet? Just hold the meet as a protest and it will be ok.

I was reading the entries at Antique Radio Forums, not a member, about a rummage type sale in West Allis, Wisconsin, a western suburb of Milwaukee.
If they don't cancel it, I expect to be there!
