I found on the market a Sylvania Halolight tv, will pick it up on the weekend

The seller is saying it is working, but I will not plug it in until recapping ha been done.

That is my favorite cabinet style of halolite. If you are within a reasonable driving distance I'd trade any of a variety of TVs for it including my working remote Halolite (the shorter set in the pic), a working tabletop model RCA CTC5 round screen color, and possibly other sets for it.

Otherwise, congratulations on your find. IIRC these don't use a power transformer so if you have a variac you could give it a slow careful power up before the recap to get a baseline of the condition of the circuits.

Little too far the set is located in Quebec City, I will bring it to Montreal Canada next week end.

That set, in my opinion, is up in the high-ranks of classic "mid-century" styled TV's. Put that in any room with a '50's theme and it would look awesome.

Do you know if the "Halolight" works ? I dunno, if it DON'T work, that might be the most difficult part of the whole deal...

It probably has the "double decker" chassis with the PC board on top, and selenium rectifiers below. There were some capacitors in the vertical circuit which gave trouble, as well as the big filament resistor.

I think you could fashion a replacement for the fluorescent using a strip of white LEDs and the appropriate driver.
