Panasonic Quintrix TX-28PM1, remote needed
Hi, TV's arent usually my thing, moreso cameras - but last week I took my families old TV upstairs (they were going to junk it)
It's a PAL model, probably from about.. 2002ish? got replaced in a year to two by a ludicrously expensive for the time 720p plasma and it's definitely post-DVDR as the manual says about linking to dvd recorders.. anyways It used to get almost daily use in our spare room for gaming, probably from 2003 to about 2014 when i got my own HD tv which now got taken downstairs in it's place I need to figure out what to do remote-wise - we also had a panasonic plasma from a similar era, but its remote would never work with it, and we lost or broke the old remote for this years back I was thinking of getting a universal remote but i fear that it won't have all the right buttons - for accessing the OSD, service menu to fix the slightly off geometry, most importantly changing the aspect ratio for when i play 4:3 consoles or vhs tapes and removing the always on channel/input indicators as i worry they may be burnt in from the tv only displaying "6" because of our sky box's signal splitter and PS1/2 or "AV3" for the ps3 and xbox throughout it's life etc. I haven't been able to find any OEM remotes for sale and i'm pretty skeptical of universal remotes working correctly with it and getting all the buttons and everything, any shouts to where i'd find a remote or maybe a universal one that would have every button would be appreciated ! Also saw that it's got RCA out for slapping it into my amp but i'm a bit anxious about having any of my hifi speakers around it and screwing up the geometry more as i don't think any of my speakers are shielded and i don't want to risk that - would there be any recommended minimum distance for even my bookshelf speakers? Also, is there anything reliability wise i have to look out for? It's always had a bit of issues with not being able to read pretty small text, especially if it's red it smears a bit and isn't sharp but as it's always been like that to my memory i don't think it's anything to really worry about? sorry about the silly questions, not incredibly familiar with CRTs apart from the pro JVC and sony monitors we'd use in my college's studio with top end SD equipment before they went digital 2 years back lol Last edited by rinrinrinowo; 10-27-2020 at 02:11 PM. |

Something tells me you are not from around here HI HI.
Anyhows Quintrix in the states was about 1980 & IIRC used the Zenith EFL CRT. They came 13", 19" & 25" US size. They were the better sets in the line. Find the remotes OEM part number & do an open search on E-Bay. The format is 3 letters followed by four numbers & sometimes a dash & one more number. May take a bit but universals seldom cover all the functions. good luck Zeno ![]() LFOD ! |
