Predicta Holiday Screen cover
Hello all, I have a question regarding the plastic cover for my Predicta Holiday set. It is very yellowed, I know they were slightly tinted, but I feel that it has been darkened even more than usual. Will wet sanding and polishing fix this issue, or maybe I should try something like retro Brite to clear it up a bit? Any advice would be appreciated!

I've used Novus plastic polish #2 and #3 to remove yellow in the past. It's available online Walmart, Amazon and eBay. It's usually available on the shelf at Harley-Davidson motorcycle store.

The 21" covers, unlike the 17" models, used a very unstable plastic that continually breaks down. That's why they have bad odor to them. I've seen a lot of these sets and the dark green tint is very common. When watching the set it doesn't effect viewing. Another great plastic polish is Maguires Plast-X. It really "bites" into old plastics of any kind.

I had to start with some, IIRC, 1200 grit wet and dry sandpaper on mine, it had some deep scratches. Don't work too hard right on the scratches, spread it out or you will "dish" the area. Mine took a lot of work but came out very nice. It is few years later now and it still looks good and doesn't seem to be deteriorating, at least not quickly.

If it was ever owned by smokers especially when it was a working set nicotine tar can really yellow/brown a surface. Ammonia glass cleaner (wet surface and let it sit a minute or so) and or Gojo tend to do a good job of removing it.
I'm pretty sure the 21" sets are supposed to have a sort of oliveish tint to them....Zenith roundy color sets (that use a glass safety lense) have the same tint to the glass and the mask paint.
